Primary Cell Sorting on a Chip
The mvs360 cartridge, the heart of the system, contains the complete fluidic circuit of a sorting flow cytometer. Single cell suspensions are loaded into a tapered well that holds 5-50µl. About 1 mL of sheath buffer is also housed on board. This can be standard buffered saline, but it can also be any media useful for preserving cell viability. The target and non-target cells are both recoverable from the cartridge as are any cells remaining in the specimen cup whenever a sort is ended. Further, the entire microfluidic circuit and all reservoirs are accessible for microscopic examination using an inverted fluorescent microscope.
