Associate Scientist/Research Associate
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to perform hands-on assay development work in a fast paced environment. This individual must be able to accurately and precisely execute clearly defined experiments, make detailed observations, correctly analyze data, interpret results, prepare clear and concise technical reports, and other duties as assigned. The successful candidate must be self-motivated, demonstrate a focused attention to detail, be able to operate independently in a laboratory environment yet be able to efficiently respond to and follow both verbal and written direction, and must also be able to effectively communicate and interact well as a member of an established team.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Perform hands-on experiments to develop new assays and protocols.
- Accurately and precisely document and record laboratory activities, results, and conclusions.
- Set-up and perform various nucleic acids base manipulation reactions and experiments.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- PhD in molecular biology, molecular genetics, or related field and one year (preferred) post-doctoral training/experience, Or: MS/MA in molecular biology, molecular genetics, or related field and a minimum of 5 years documented industry experience in an assay development role.
- Solid understanding of the assay development process and enzyme characteristics/properties.
- Demonstrated understanding of the various DNA amplification technologies, as well as other enzymatic DNA manipulation techniques.
- Effective communication skills (both verbally and in writing).
- Willingness and ability to perform routine lab tasks.
- Ability to follow complex design strategies and to execute them in an accurate and timely manner.
- Focused attention to detail.
